The first method of treating medical waste is chemical treatment. Irradiation is the other method of medicine waste treatment. Gamma rays which have low wavelengths are used in the irradiation process to bring about sterilization.
Use of microwaves is also used in treating medicine waste. Microwave treatment is just like irradiation but it uses microwaves to decontaminate medicine waste which has moisture. Water can be added to dry medicine waste before being put in the microwaves.
